Hone was founded after many years of practice. We are a Landscape Architecture studio that appreciates the finer details of craft as referenced in our name.
Hone is derived from the art of practicing or refining one’s craft. It is a nod to the future as we aim to evolve over time while striving for continued excellence & improvement.
We seek to maintain a small scale studio environment to ensure a dedicated team are able to look after your project needs, while nurturing talent and excellent design thinking for our clients.
Our approach is driven by a shared passion, where our clients are on the journey and contributing their own creativity, expertise and project direction.
The Hone approach to design takes lessons learned from years of practice, with the aim to edit, sharpen and improve and refine for the better.

Director
Hone’s Director is Andrew Norriss, a designer with an ever-evolving portfolio developed over years of contribution to projects across Aotearoa. His many years of project delivery to all aspects of the public realm have been transformational, delivering all parts that make up a project. He believes in leaving landscapes more resilient through careful intervention ultimately meaning better outcomes for current and future communities. He is often working across scales, from city centre masterplanning, streetscapes, urban spaces and town centres and campuses to parks, gardens, and stream daylighting to support wider housing, residential and community projects.
Andrew’s strength is that he can hold a project vision from conception to completion in which he takes pride in the creativity and rigour required to see a project through.
His work is award winning, always place-driven and connected to past and present stories of a landscape.
